OK, I know this is not an item in my store but since most of you read my blog because you love vintage and because I am sooo excited about it, I thought I would share this with you.
I told my husband that I wanted a vintage cocktail ring for x-mas. And instead of surprising me, he thought it was best if I picked it out. Which as you can see worked out great because I found this one! To me it says old Hollywood Glamour. I love the combination of colors. And everything else about it for that matter.
I have also posted the original ebay description below....
WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF SUGARBUSH...
THIS AUCTION IS FOR AN AMAZING ONYX DOME RING! THIS IS A HIGH END DESIGNER PIECE THAT COST OVER $500 WHEN BOUGHT FROM A NEW YORK BOUTIQUE. I DO NOT KNOW WHO MADE THIS BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER JUST HAD TO HAVE IT AND WAS NEVER AFRAID TO BUY THE VERY BEST SHE COULD!!! THE RING IS A MASSIVE 1 1/8" ACROSS AND IS A SIZE 9. THE CENTER IS SET WITH DAZZLING CLEAR STONES AND A 16mm MOTHER OF PEARL GEMSTONE. THE RING IS SOLID BLACK ONYX AND TRULY MAGNIFICENT. SURE TO BE NOTICED WHEN WORN!!! GREAT QUALITY, FABULOUS CONDITION!!!
If you are wondering how much we paid, we got it for $ 133.00 which I figure is a steal considering that it was 500 back in the day. Also, please check out this seller's auctions. I don't know them personally, nor do I have anything to gain but you might. Because unlike a lot of other sellers on ebay, this person seems to list nothing but quality. I have been checking their auctions and they never have any junk or any other kind of cheesy crap. It's always beautiful, fine vintage estate items. I know what your thinking and it's not that boring snooty kind of estate items. I'm talking about Bakelite, Art Deco jewelry, Japanese Netsuke, an antique Chinese Dragon robe. Well Just go see..... After a long, long.....long hiatus due to the birth of our son and having absolutely no time to work in our stores, I am very pleased to announce that we are back! We have a whole lot of new vintage goodies and have started listing them already. The more retro 50s & 60s type items are being listed in our etsy shop
Vaudeville Vintage. And in our ebay store
Vaudeville Vintage & Collectibles, we are listing a lot of Limoges china, Anchor Hocking, porcelain, Italian pottery, collectible items and vintage designer costume jewelry(yes, we are just now getting around to lsiting the Trifari, Napier, Sarah Cov. etc.!) We still have a lot more to list so check back or better yet, sign up for our mailing list! And here is a little peak at one of our best finds yet, from a little indoor fleamarket in Florida. I make my husband bring me every time we go to Florida. And every time we go, I always "score" on atleast a couple of items. So this time our best find was a 1950s Italian blown art glass cased "Genie Bottle" decanter worth about $300! The color is smoke and lavender. I almost don't even want to sell it!
1950s pinup model Bettie Page dies in LA at 85
LOS ANGELES – Bettie Page, the 1950s secretary-turned-model whose controversial photographs in skimpy attire or none at all helped set the stage for the 1960s sexual revolution, died Thursday. She was 85.
Page was placed on life support last week after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles and never regained consciousness, said her agent, Mark Roesler. He said he and Page's family agreed to remove life support. Before the heart attack, Page had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia.
"She captured the imagination of a generation of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality," Roesler said. "She is the embodiment of beauty."
Page, who was also known as Betty, attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure in bikinis and see-through lingerie that were quickly tacked up on walls in military barracks, garages and elsewhere, where they remained for years.
Her photos included a centerfold in the January 1955 issue of then-fledgling Playboy magazine, as well as controversial sadomasochistic poses.
